Adam Gibbs
Computer Science and Mathematics Student at Amherst College
Adam Gibbs is a senior at Amherst College pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics with a keen interest in pursuing a PhD program in computer science post-graduation.
Apart from his academic focus, Adam has diverse research interests spanning oceanography, climate science, computational sociology, and public health.
His research experience includes working as a computer science and machine learning intern at MBARI on developing algorithms for estimating ocean pH and at NOAA on ocean wave forecasting models.
Adam has also delved into network science and approximation algorithms during his time at Amherst College and is keen on utilizing machine learning, data mining, and big data analysis in his future scientific endeavors.
Beyond academics and research, Adam has been involved in various organizations such as being a Machine Learning & Oceanographic Research Intern at Monterey Bay Aquarium, a Student Health Educator at Amherst College, an Oceanographic Research Intern at NOAA, a Software Engineering Intern at CoolGreenPower, a Computer Science Tutor, a Math Grader, and a Sailing Instructor at the New England Science & Sailing Foundation.
