Adair Harper
Community Services Librarian at Richmond Public Library
Adair Harper is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in library science, public history, and various cultural institutions. Adair holds a Master of Library & Information Science with a concentration in First Nations Curriculum from The University of British Columbia, along with a Master of Arts in Public History from The University of Western Ontario. Additionally, Adair completed a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in International Relations at The University of British Columbia.
Throughout their career, Adair has held several key positions in the library sector, including their current role as a Community Services Librarian at Richmond Public Library. Prior to this, Adair gained experience as an Auxiliary Librarian at Burnaby Public Library, a Casual Librarian I at West Vancouver Memorial Library, and a Xwi7xwa Student Librarian at The University of British Columbia. Adair has also contributed their expertise as an Audrey and Harry Hawthorn Library and Archives Assistant at the Museum of Anthropology at UBC.
In addition to library roles, Adair has demonstrated their versatility by serving as a Curatorial Assistant at the Vancouver Art Gallery, a Project Manager for The Franz Boas Papers: Documentary Edition at Western University, an Exhibitions Organizer at the Victoria and Albert Museum, and a Researcher and Oral History Project Organizer at Parks Canada. Adair has also worked as a Research Assistant at both Western University and The University of British Columbia.
With a passion for preserving and sharing cultural heritage, Adair has further expanded their experience as an Interpretive Guide at Canada's Northern House during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. Adair's academic qualifications, combined with their extensive work across various libraries, museums, and research institutions, reflect a dedicated professional committed to promoting education, research, and cultural understanding.
