Research Associate

Position encompasses three roles with responsibilities shifting with the needs of the PI and lab:

-  Staff Research Associate: In vitro and in vivo research compromised of self-lead and collaborative projects directed at finding novel biomarkers and targets of the Wnt signaling pathway in pancreatic cancer. Mammalian cell-based assays. Subcutaneous and orthotopic xenograft tumor progression studies following pharmacologic manipulations. Drives design of experiments, data generation and analysis for grant and paper submissions. Main contributor for cross-institutional projects dealing with IHC on PDAC TMA.

-  Lab Manager: Training of new hires and collaborators following SOPs. Capital
inventory equipment set-up/maintenance. Researching, ordering, and troubleshooting consumables/equipment. Set up of project update meetings. Maintaining IRB and IACUC protocol approvals.

-  Lab Safety Officer: Generation of SOPs for BSL2+ lab. (Bio)hazardous and pathology waste
disposal. Attending quarterly safety meetings and disseminating information to lab.

Staff Research Associate / Lab Manager / Lab Safety Officer

Assisted in conducting two concurrent clinical efficacy studies dealing with an experimental vaginal gel and female condoms. Worked independently of all staff, while still maintaining high data output with minimal direction.
-  Collated, collected, and prepared data from previous studies for publication.
-  Specific duties: Screened prospective study participants, administered informed consents
and study questionnaires, management of laboratory results and databases, coded and edited research data, data cleanup, and study report preparation.

Maintained the integrity of and analyzed key DNA samples used in the assembly of three different, but interconnected projects corresponding to the genetic relatedness of members of the Canidae family.
