Assistant Regulatory Reporting Accountant at Target Financial Services

Reporting to the Regulatory Reporting Accountant, I have responsibility for ensuring all Company and Client regulatory reporting requirements are properly defined and correctly reported to the relevant party on a timely and efficient basis.

In order to achieve this, I have cultivated a deep knowledge of Target Servicing, its subsidiary and clients, understanding the regulatory environment and developments affecting this market and its regulatory reporting requirements.

I write & deliver training programs to relevant staff members to enable them to reconcile company accounts and validate accuracy of client returns prior to distribution or submission.

Working closely with key stakeholders around the business to collate information required for submission to the regulators, ensuring information is accurate and in correct format 

I am responsible for preparing compliance specification requirements and ensuring this is in line with interpretation of relevant regulations.

Target Loan Servicing

Assistant Regulatory Reporting Accountant

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Servicing. the core of this role related to the servicing of an Equity Release portfolio. I managed quite diverse aspects of the portfolio ranging from applications for further lending to possession proceedings. I had responsibility for maintaining relationships with surveyors, solicitors, and enquiry agents. 

I came to Target with a large amount of skills and knowledge relating to commercial finance, corporate insolvency and legal processes. When a gap in the team’s knowledge is identified I have written training guides in order to plug the gap, these have included ‘A beginner’s guide to Insolvency’, ‘A guide to legal entities & their liabilities’ & ‘negotiation skills’. I have also produced ‘How to’ guides for both Shawbrook & Partnership.

Commercial Account Executive

Reporting to the Risk Director, the core role in terms of portfolio management reflects some of the aspects of Recoveries Manager with increased discretions in terms of exposure, provision, debt forgiveness & management of legal action, month end financial reporting and reconciliation of internal accounts. I also drafted all settlement agreements and reviewed the agreements drafted by the Assistant Recovery Managers.

In cases where the bank were either suing and / or being counter sued I had the responsibility of analysing the strength of our legal position & adjusting the recovery strategy accordingly.

My role also included responsibilities relating to training members of the team in all aspects of running a portfolio, ensuring team targets are met, sampling and quality control, collation of Management Information and preparing reports on aspects of impairment. I also had sanctioning responsibility for a team Assistant Recovery Managers where the live debt or provision was outside their own discretion.

Barclays

Senior Recoveries Manager 

Reporting to the Senior Recoveries Manager, I ran portfolio of between 130 to 150 cases with a debt value of £3,500,000 to £4,000,000. My core role was risk management, this involved implementing recovery strategies in a cost effective & timely manner, working towards both personal and team targets. I also had responsibilities involving auditory requirements. 

I had taken on the role of ‘provision champion’, this relates to provisioning policy & Sarbonne Oxley compliance, part of this responsibility included sampling colleagues work to ensure compliance & providing training/guidance where required & provided feedback to team managers. My role also included management of the business, development of colleagues and building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

Recoveries Manager

Reporting to the Assistant Recoveries Manager, my duties involved machine room processing and customer service. I undertook intensive training to ensure my understanding of the working processes increased and I took responsibility for certain aspects of daily accounting procedures including the reconciliation of all internal banking accounts.

As my knowledge and capability grew I also took the role of assistant to the negotiation teams. I was providing support to the recovery officers in all aspects of their work and gained an understanding of securities, the use of bespoke, and different types of insolvency and their effect on recovery strategy. I then moved into a different role which was volume driven, the work developed my time and workflow management skills. I had been involved in looking into the efficiency of our process and implementing the changes necessary to increase our productivity whilst retaining integrity and relevance of the data involved. I had a responsibility for assimilating cases, negotiating with customers and implementing various recovery strategies. I also took a role in the social committee and the position of community champion which involved coordinating all community activity ranging from fundraising to organising volunteering projects for staff.
