Ellen Friedman is a skilled attorney in the areas of commercial transactions, bankruptcy, and insolvency. As a partner at Friedman & Springwater LLP, Ellen has extensive experience representing both debtors and creditors in financial restructurings, ranging from small companies to large hardware manufacturers. She has also represented secured lenders in various bankruptcy cases, including real estate and retail.

Ellen has a strong background in handling commercial transactions such as venture capital finance, sales of private label credit card portfolios, and sales of intellectual property. She has also written extensively on bankruptcy and secured transactions, she is the author of Secured Transactions in California Commercial Practice, Security Interests in Trade Secrets, Intellectual Property Issues in Bankruptcy, and Acquisitions of Distressed Dot-Coms.

Ellen studied law at Vanderbilt University Law School, after which she began practicing law as an associate at Shearman & Sterling. She later became a shareholder at Murphy Sheneman Julian & Rogers (formerly Murphy Weir & Butler) before joining Friedman & Springwater. Ellen is a member of the State Bar of California and the State Bar of New York.
