Abraham Burak is a Canadian entrepreneur and the co-founder of Airalo, a pioneering eSIM marketplace that offers affordable mobile data solutions for travelers. He serves as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company, which was established in 2019 alongside co-founder Ahmet Bahadir Ozdemir.

Background and Education

Burak has a diverse educational background in law and international studies. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws from Fudan University in China, studied international law at the University of Geneva, and completed further studies at The Hague Academy of International Law in the Netherlands. He also holds a master's degree from the University of Chicago and pursued a Juris Doctor degree at the University of Ottawa in Canada. His career prior to Airalo included roles as a legal and business consultant across various sectors including maritime and wealth management.124

Airalo's Impact

Under Burak's leadership, Airalo has grown significantly, surpassing 10 million users globally by 2024. The company addresses the common issue of high international roaming charges by allowing users to purchase and activate local data plans directly through their mobile devices in over 200 countries.23 In August 2023, Airalo secured $60 million in Series B funding to further its mission of making travel connectivity more accessible.23

Personal Interests

Outside of his professional commitments, Burak is actively involved in community service, providing pro bono legal services and job training. He enjoys woodworking and is currently learning to play the clarinet, focusing on jazz and Balkan music.14
