Abigail Kaun is a highly accomplished individual with extensive experience in academia and administrative leadership.
Currently, Abigail serves as the Executive Advisor to the Dean of the Jack Baskin School of Engineering at UC Santa Cruz, where she plays a pivotal role in strategic planning and implementation, student success, project coordination, external relations, and communications.
Prior to her current role, Abigail held the position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Loyola Marymount University in the School of Film and Television and has taken on various leadership roles at prestigious institutions such as USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and USC College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.
Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Linguistics from UCLA, with expertise in phonology, language universals, and Turkic languages. Abigail has also been actively involved in linguistic research, collaborating with engineers and phoneticians on speech production projects.
Abigail's teaching experience spans assistant professorships at Yale University and The University of Iowa, specializing in linguistics.
Throughout her career, Abigail has been known for her contributions to academic, film, and legal projects as a language consultant, showcasing her diverse skill set and adaptability across various domains.
