Abdulelah Alhawsawi
Translating genomics innovation into clinical application
Dr. Abdulelah Alhawsawi is a prominent figure in the field of patient safety, having served as the Ex-founding Director General of the Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC) and MOH Advisor on Patient Safety.
With a background in general surgery and a sub-specialty in Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgery, Dr. Alhawsawi holds Dual Certified Boards in American and Canadian surgical practices.
He played a pivotal role in establishing SPSC as a WHO Collaborating Center for patient safety policies and strategies, a prestigious recognition shared by only 5 such centers globally.
Dr. Alhawsawi has consulted for various national and international quality and safety organizations and currently holds positions such as board member and Vice President of the Global Sepsis Alliance (GSA) and adviser to the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) international.
He was involved in the Expert Panel for the 3rd Global Patient Safety Challenge by the WHO and chaired the Organizing Committee for the 4th Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety in Saudi Arabia in 2019.
Additionally, Dr. Alhawsawi has been instrumental in advancing Patient Safety as a priority in the G20 meetings of Saudi Arabia.
He currently contributes to the WHO's Global Patient Safety Action Plan Taskforce and is the Chief Executive Officer at NoorDX, while having previously held various key roles in organizations such as the GLOBAL SEPSIS ALLIANCE, Saudi Health Council, and Saudi Central Board For Accreditation of Health Care Institutions (CBAHI).
