Abbas Shafiee
Senior Research Fellow
Abbas Shafiee is a renowned regenerative medicine scientist with a rich history spanning over 14 years in both academia and the biotechnology industry. He is focused on pioneering translational cell- and tissue engineering-based solutions to combat various human diseases.
Abbas attained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical Sciences from The University of Queensland, showcasing his commitment to advancing the field of biology and healthcare. He also studied Tissue Engineering at Tehran University of Medical Sciences and pursued further education at the School of Advanced Technologies in Medicine.
Throughout his career, Abbas has held significant positions at various prestigious organizations. He currently serves as a Senior Research Fellow at the Herston Biofabrication Institute within the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital. Previously, he contributed his expertise as a Senior Research Fellow at The University of Queensland, a Sessional Lecturer at Queensland University Of Technology, a Research Fellow at Queensland University of Technology, and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The University of Queensland.
Abbas Shafiee's professional journey also includes roles such as Project Manager at the Stem Cells Technology Research Centre and Graduate Research Assistant at the Avicenna Research Institute. He kickstarted his research career as a Graduate Student Research Assistant at the Pasteur Institute of Iran, laying a strong foundation for his future successes.
