Erik has served multinational corporations and early-stage companies alike in technical and operational roles. He started in the biotech industry as a molecular biologist and held senior operating roles with major establishments like Schering AG, Sentigen Holding Corp., ACLARA BioSciences, SciQuest, and Qiagen, gaining vast experience in corporate strategy, marketing, sales, business development, and operations.

Before co-founding Park Square, Erik was the Managing Director, Life Sciences at J. Robert Scott, a global retained executive search firm. Previously, he served as the Managing Partner of Heidrick & Struggles' Biotechnology Practice and Partner-in-Charge of the firm's San Francisco office.
