Aaron Joshua Pinto
Government of Ontario's Trade & Investment Representative in New York | Queen's Young Leader | Action Canada Fellow
Aaron Joshua Pinto is a Canadian diplomat and public policy professional with a diverse background in international trade, diplomacy, and community development. He was recently selected as an Action Canada Fellow for the 2024-2025 cohort.34
Currently, Pinto serves as the Consul & Senior Economic Officer, heading Ontario's International Trade & Investment Office in New York.2 In this role, he leads a team responsible for promoting Ontario's business, economic, and innovation profile in the northeastern United States. His duties include facilitating foreign investment, fostering trade partnerships, and supporting high-level government missions.2
Prior to his current position, Pinto worked as a Trade Commissioner for Foreign Direct Investment at the Consulate General of Canada in New York from 2019 to 2021.2 In this role, he focused on attracting U.S. companies to invest in Canada and supported Canadian businesses entering the U.S. market.
Pinto's international experience is extensive. He has participated in various global initiatives, including:
- Serving as Canada's Youth Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)1
- Leading the Canadian G7 youth delegation's negotiations on the future of work1
- Engaging in socioeconomic issues in diverse locations such as post-Apartheid townships in Cape Town, Ukraine, Malawi, and Colombia1
