Aaron Gershenberg

Aaron Gershenberg is a co-founder and managing partner of SVB Capital.35 He initially joined SVB in 1999 and has been involved in the venture capital industry since 1996.13 Over the past 20 years, he has established multiple funds, direct funds, and custom solutions.35 Gershenberg's expertise lies in assessing venture capital investments on a global scale and creating unique value for institutional investors seeking access to the innovation economy.13 He has also published articles on the venture capital industry and is a speaker at conferences.13
Before his time at SVB, Gershenberg opened FirstCorp’s Northern California office, a venture leasing group focused on early-stage companies, where he provided venture financing to over 50 startup technology companies.13 After retiring as a General Partner on January 1, 2023, he became a Senior Advisor & Founder Partner Emeritus at SVB Capital.7 In January 2025, Gershenberg returned to SVB Capital as a Managing Partner.8 Additionally, in April 2024, Aaron Gershenberg joined the Antler Advisory Board as a Sr. Advisor & Founder Partner at SVB Capital.24
Gershenberg earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and African Studies from Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in finance from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.13 He is also an accomplished kite boarder.1 Since 2000, he has been an ambassador for kiteboarding, introducing people to the sport.3 In October 2020, he obtained his Private Pilot License from the Federal Aviation Administration.6
Aaron combines his passion for philanthropy with his love of the outdoors.1 In 1984, he participated in a cycling trip from Boston to Los Angeles, raising money for Oxfam America.13 He is a founder of the Hearst Castle Best Buddies ride, which has raised over $3 million for Best Buddies, and serves on its international board.13 He is also on the advisory board of the Founder Mental Health Pledge.4
