In October 2007, Congress passed a law making online gambling illegal in the US. I launched a site and Facebook app that allowed users to take a percentage of the ad revenue that the site generated and wager it against each other, in lieu of using their own money. I spent way too much on fancy servers and way too little on user acquisition so it failed pretty quickly, but it was a great experience.
