Lingwei Cheng, a public policy PhD candidate at Carnegie Mellon University, has a strong interest in the application of predictive analytics in social services and organizational decision-making. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Politics from the Università di Bologna and a Bachelor of Arts in International Business and Management and Political Science from Dickinson College, where she maintained a near-perfect GPA of 3.93/4.0. Cheng went on to earn a Master's Degree in Computational Analysis and Public Policy from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago.

Before starting her PhD, Cheng worked as a teaching assistant at the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University, an adjunct assistant professor in Operations Management at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a data analyst at the Mansueto Institute for Urban Innovation at the University of Chicago. She also completed a data journalism fellowship at Knight Lab and interned at the China Association of Microfinance.
