Hornby started his educational journey by studying A Levels in History, French, and Maths at Charterhouse School, and later went on to get a Bachelor of Science degree in Management specializing in Accounting and Finance from the University of Manchester. He is an Associate of CGMA, Accounting & Finance from The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and has also studied Investment Advice Diploma (Securities) at Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Hornby's diverse professional background includes roles such as Head of BD & Marketing and Funding Manager at GapCap, where he also worked as an Analyst. Prior to these roles, he worked as a Management Accountant & Strategy Consultant for various companies, a field researcher for CoStar Group UK, and a Sales and Marketing Assistant at Student Castle Limited.
