Richard Polk
Richard Polk, the president of Pedestrian Shops and creator of the DECARBONIZATION, INNOVATION & ARTS NETWORK, has dedicated his life to supporting green initiatives and improving his community. Richard's leadership in business earned him several awards, including the Ron Porter Lifetime Achievement Award and the Franny Reich Local Business Hero Award. He also proposed Boulder's Solar Rebate ordinance while serving on the City Council, which continues to fund solar energy on affordable housing and non-profits to this day.
Richard's community involvement also extends to the arts. As the former chair of The Dairy Center for the Arts, he helped raise $7 million for improvements including sustainable systems and solar panels. Richard currently serves on several boards, including the Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Xcel Energy's Renewable Energy Trust.
Originally from Chicago, Richard attended the University of Denver where he studied Business & Arts. His illustrious career started with Polk Brothers, Inc., a family-owned business that was once the world's largest retailer of name-brand furniture and appliances.
Overall, Richard is a prominent figure in the Boulder community with a passion for green energy, improving the arts, and making a positive impact in his community.
