Mark Treherne

Mark Treherne is a seasoned commercial research scientist with a rich background in the discovery and diagnosis of innovative treatments for diseases with unmet medical needs.

With a career spanning over 30 years, Mark has garnered valuable experience in leading research initiatives at renowned institutions like Pfizer, where he delved into neurodegenerative diseases in the UK.

In 1997, Mark co-founded and became the Chief Executive of Cambridge Drug Discovery, a venture that was later acquired by BioFocus plc in 2001.

Mark's expertise extends to fundraising in the life sciences sector, having facilitated the raising of over £300 million for early-stage companies and attracting inward investments exceeding £6 billion into the UK.

Over the years, Mark has served on the boards of various global companies specializing in therapeutics, research services, and diagnostics, driving partnerships and out-licensing transactions totaling more than £1.5 billion.

Currently, Mark is actively involved in Monument Therapeutics, focusing on digital biomarkers, and spearheading revenue-generating enterprises like Talisman, Ubiquigent, Cell Guidance Systems, and NuVision Biotherapies.

His specialties include out-licensing therapeutic assets, technical due diligence, mergers and acquisitions, fundraising strategies, R&D management, business development, and grant appraisals, among others.

Mark's educational journey includes a Ph.D. and an M.Phil. from the University of Cambridge, along with a B.Sc. from the University of St. Andrews.

In addition to his role at Monument Therapeutics, Mark has held notable positions in organizations such as NuVision Biotherapies, Cell Guidance Systems, and Ubiquigent Limited, showcasing his diverse leadership capabilities in the life sciences industry.
