Brittan Heller is a legal professional with vast experience at the intersection of law, technology, and human rights. Heller specializes in advising on the use of virtual, augmented, and extended reality technologies in social media, content moderation, privacy issues, AI ethics, online harassment, cyberbullying and hate speech, and online extremism. Heller served in the Criminal Division of the US Department of Justice and worked as counsel with Foley Hoag's Global Business and Human Rights practice, establishing their Global AI practice group. Heller was also the first Director for Technology and Society for the Anti-Defamation League, where she helped bring civil rights into a digital environment and leveraged innovations like AI, VR and gaming to promote justice and fair treatment for all. Heller has also worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Stanford Law School in Kabul, where she established a law school at the American University of Afghanistan.
