Rewrite Search Ads Optimizer by Java.
The previous SAO server in C++, started in 2007, is notorious due to bad productivity, difficulty to management, and rigidity for new products and experiments. The new Java based SAO server offers high development efficiency brought by Java techs such as runtime code reloading and dynamic scripting. It also provides better management and monitoring featured by JMX and embedded web server. A new platform feature “multi-layer bucketing” is implemented to support more 3rd-party system such as “Yahoo Shopping” and “Yahoo Mobile Search Ads”. Java version SAO server’s performance (QPS per host and avg delay) is similar or even better than C++ version after optimization. Part of legacy C++ code are reused via protobuf + ZeroMQ.

Lead to develoop Search Advertisement Optimizer Config System
Lead designing and developing the SAO Config System. This system contains 3 parts: core, daemon and web based admin dashboard. Core is a toolkit like git but dedicated for SAO server configs (params and data files), which supports huge data management and version management which can deal with the code-config compatibility problem. Daemon is a little tool run together with SAO server to auto reload the config. Admin dashboard provides straightforward UI to management parameters and versions used in dev, staging and production cluster. With this system, all the updates can be loaded in production within 1 hour due to CD progress and QE signoff. For those config that doesn’t go through CD pipelines, they can be applied within 10 secs.

Lead to develop Internal tools for Yahoo Search Advertising Group
Managing the configurations and rules for advertising features and query based apply policies; Monitoring the CI process that the change is pushed, tested and deployed into the production. Used Techs: Java, Jenkins, Tomcat, MySQL, Sherpa(internal), javascript, node.js.

Architect of Mobile Client Server, the renren official mobile client (iOS/Andorid/WP)'s backend server. Refactoring the business logic code and improving the system performance and stability. Design and implement real time access log analyzer based on Storm, ZMQ and HBase.

Lead to develop "Rose" and "Jade", which are renren's internal web and DAO framework (simliar to Spring MVC and myBatis). Technology: Java, Reflection, Dynamic Proxy.

Lead to develop the status center of renren's communication system for one-to-one and one-to-group chating service. It's redis cluster based high performance storage service to hold users' varioius chating status (such as new messages incoming that needs to be notified, online/offline, ....)

Pariticipate part work of XOA2, the RPC framework (based on thrift) used by <a href="http://renren.com">renren.com</a> which supports RPC service nodes management, load balance, invoke monitoring and analysis, authentication, ....
