Matthew Gibson is a highly experienced banking and finance lawyer, currently serving as a Partner at the esteemed firm of Webber Wentzel. With over 10 years of experience in the field, Matthew has advised lenders and corporate borrowers alike, and has been involved in a range of financing transactions in the mining and resources, construction materials, gaming and healthcare sectors. He is highly skilled in structured loan financings, leveraged finance transactions, cross-border transactions and acquisition finance, and has advised clients on comprehensive security packages with international and South African components. In addition to his work with lending and borrowing entities, Matthew has also advised South African subscribers in relation to preference share funding, with expertise covering corporate and tax aspects of the transactions.

Matthew holds a LLB degree from the University of Cape Town, along with a Certificate in Banking Law from the University of Cape Town and a Certificate in Company Law I and II from the University of the Witwatersrand. Prior to his current role, he served as a Senior Associate at both Webber Wentzel and Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs Inc.
