Daniel Lu, a design technologist researcher and former architectural engineer, has an extensive background in the field of civil engineering. Lu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Cornell University and a Master of Science degree in Architectural Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. Currently, Lu is pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering at NYU Tandon School of Engineering while serving as a PhD student at NYU’s biLAB. Lu's research interest lies in the use of virtual reality, BIM, and simulations in the design of adaptive environments and the relevant data that informs their design, construction, and operation. Furthermore, he is keenly interested in communicating ideas through various mediums such as data visualization and immersive experiences. Lu has worked as an Energy Engineer at Steven Winter Associates, an Associate II at Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc., a Guest Lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin, a Graduate Student Researcher at The University of Texas at Austin, a Building Physics Intern at Buro Happold, a Facades Intern at Buro Happold, a Lighting Specialist at Cornell University Sustainable Design, and the President at Phoenix Society. Additionally, Lu has worked as a Research Intern at NIST and as an Engineering Team Leader at Cornell University Sustainable Design. Further pursuing his passion, Lu also worked as an Extern at Beijing Institute of Architectural Design.
