Kierstan Schwab, a seasoned communications professional, has spent her career promoting public interest journalism in Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied Public Policy and the LBJ School of Public Affairs. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Journalism from Macalester College. Before becoming the Executive Director at Texas Public Broadcasting Association, Schwab worked as the Vice President for External Relations and Vice President for Digital Content Development at KLRT-TV, where she honed her skills in media production, marketing, and community outreach. She also worked as a Staff Writer for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The Journal Newspapers, and Lake Charles American Press, where she gained a deep appreciation for the power of storytelling.
