Julio Friedmann
Julio Friedmann is a renowned scientist with a strong focus on developing innovative and sustainable solutions to combat climate change. With a PhD in Geology/Earth Science from University of Southern California and a Bachelor's and Master's from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Friedmann has dedicated his career to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and removing CO2 from the environment. He has served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary at the US Department of Energy, managed a $600M/year R&D portfolio, and represented the US government in international engagements and collaborations. As a Senior Research Scholar at Columbia University, Friedmann leads the CaMRI Initiative and focuses on interdisciplinary partnerships to achieve important outcomes. He has also held senior advisory positions at Energy Futures Initiative, Global CCS Institute and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and was previously the CEO of Carbon Wrangler LLC. Friedmann's expertise lies in sustainability, energy innovation, carbon management, and clean energy technologies.
