Sami Tas is a seasoned software engineer and leader with a wealth of experience in machine learning, product development, and scale. He currently serves as the Director of XR People at Facebook, where he leads a team that creates immersive experiences that bridge the gap between the physical and virtual world using cutting-edge computer vision and machine learning technologies.

Prior to his current role, Sami spent six years at Facebook working on News Feed, Notifications, and Creation, where he leveraged machine learning to deliver new experiences to over 2 billion people. During this time, he transitioned from an engineer to grow an organization of around 60 people from scratch, developing strong leadership skills along the way.

Before Facebook, Sami worked on various startups in Turkey, where he focused on optimizing public transportation, scaling mobile apps for multiple financial institutions, and developing rider-driver matching algorithms.

Sami studied Computer Science at Boğaziçi University, where he honed his analytical and problem-solving skills. With a deep passion for machine learning, product development, and scale, he is a sought-after speaker and mentor in the tech industry.
