To explore synergies with the public sector to provide innovative solutions, we recently established our first public sector engagement platform, LIXIL Public Partners (LPP). Erin McCusker, Leader of SATO, will be leading this new business unit concurrently, focusing on strengthening business-to-government channels and operational models for public, private and community stakeholders.

Committed to making a positive impact, LIXIL aims to make a difference to Global Sanitation and Hygiene and SDGs 6, including through its SATO brand of safe, affordable sanitation and hygiene solutions and the work done to tackle America’s sanitation challenges.

Ms. Erin McCusker is appointed the Chair of the Toilet Board Coalition by the Steering Committee of the Toilet Board Coalition (TBC) for a two year term commencing 1 September 2019. Erin will bring not only her passion for the role of the private sector in solving our global challenges, but also her rigor and commitment to creating value for the members to her appointment at the Toilet Board Coalition.

- The Toilet Board Coalition is uniquely positioned to amplify the importance of sanitation and the private sector in achieving all of our global goals across multiple issues and sectors, well beyond SDG6. As the Chief Strategy Officer for SATO and Director, Global Strategy and Partnerships, Erin orients the global SATO team for long-term viability within LIXIL Group by developing and adapting the business plan, roles, and priorities with changing trends, context, and team. Erin directly collaborates with the CEO and her fellow members of the Global Leadership Team to develop and execute robust strategies, and to continually test and build knowledge across divisions to inform decisions.

Erin joins the Water, Sanitation, and  Hygiene (WSH) team at the Gates Foundation as a Senior Program Officer focused on engaging commercial partners, technology developers, and the global sanitation community to accelerate commercialization of new on-site sanitation technologies. Key activities include investment development and grant management, support for team-level initiatives, external relationship management, market analysis, strategic communications, and deal making across partners and colleagues in Africa, India, and China.

-  Private sector liaison and business development: Manage the pipeline of existing and potential commercial partners interested in a technology portfolio through regular engagement both in targeted 1:1 support and facilitation of a regular Roundtable group among lead partners. Requires deep understanding of the sanitation sector context and the technical specifications and potential applications of the technology portfolio in order to inform commercial partners and build value proposition for engagement.  Facilitation of the licensing and technology transfer process.
-  Market research and shared resource platform: Lead on the scope of work and day-to-day management of a shared resource platform established to support grantees and commercial partners in field testing, market and user research, and business case development by ensuring prioritization of workstreams is in line with team and partner goals and within scope of resources.
-  Internal operations and process design for relationship management and global access: Standardize and streamline the relationship management process including the development of standard presentation materials, example agendas, learning resources, and an internal SalesForce-based system (in process) and dashboards.

A short-term engagement to cover a maternity leave within The Boston Consulting Group's Social Impact practice. BCG carries out nearly 300 social impact projects for about 160 nonprofit organizations annually. BCG's social impact practice is dedicated to achieving tangible results for the causes we support and to offering as many opportunities as possible for BCGers around the world to contribute. -  Marketing and communications for a new business unit within an established software company:  Includes identifying key messages to build a business case for adoption of the new service, developing content for new microsite, interviews and research to develop white-papers and case studies, graphic design of new product materials
-  Organizational capacity assessment: Facilitate the assessment of a small, growing non-profit to identify strengths and weaknesses to prioritize areas of focus for capacity building in advance of board discussion
-  External engagement assessment: Review of large technical assistance provider's external engagement through internal and external interviews and landscaping, establish metrics of success and opportunities to increase influence, facilitate discussions with senior leadership to prioritize efforts and generate buy-in

- Identifying and fostering partnerships with individual, institutional, and public donors to ensure sufficient resources for achieving the organization’s mission ($35m+/year)
- Relationship management and stewardship of philanthropic institutions and individuals, identifying opportunities for partnership based on their philanthropic goals through tailored meetings, education, and field visits
- Expertise in food security, agricultural development, rural microfinance, as relevant to add to existing knowledge across global health, and broader development topics

Serving farmers in Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and Tanzania, One Acre Fund is a growing social enterprise that is innovating a new way of helping farm families to achieve their full potential. Instead of giving handouts, One Acre Fund invests in farmers to generate a permanent gain in farm income. Our program is proven impactful: on average, farmers working with One Acre Fund realize a 50%+ increase in crop yields in a single season, giving them a surplus harvest they can sell to make other investments. Erin McCusker was a senior Project Leader at The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. an international strategy and general management consulting firm that helps leading companies create and sustain competitive advantage. Erin was based in the Boston office and collaborates and manages team across US offices in Seattle, New York, and Atlanta as well as internationally in London, Paris, and Geneva. Primary activities included:
- Strategy development and planning: Vision, strategic priorities, milestones/target identification
- Stakeholder engagement and facilitation: Consensus building, reflecting different perspectives
- Organizational effectiveness and resource planning: Detailed workplanning, accountability

Erin has built multi-faceted experience in global health and health care, including strategy and organization topics such as strategic advantage, corporate strategy, opportunity identification and portfolio prioritization, organizational redesign, and business process optimization. Specifically, Erin has worked most extensively in neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), an area of increasing awareness for the impact on global development and the economic potential of communities. As a manager, Erin is responsible for shaping the overall team direction and priorities, developing analysis and research to support hypothesis, working directly with client teams, and communicating results and analysis effectively to client team and senior management.
