Simao Herdade, a PhD in Mathematics from Rutgers University-New Brunswick, is making strides in the field of machine learning. With his expertise in training deep learning models on large datasets of images and text, Simao works as a Senior Research Engineer at Yahoo! Inc. where he is responsible for developing state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms for object classification, saliency prediction, image captioning, and multimodal image+text tasks. Prior to his work at Yahoo!, Simao served as a Data Scientist at Clarifai and a Data Scientist Fellow at The Data Incubator. In addition, he has also taught as a Teaching Assistant at Rutgers University.

Simao is passionate about using his talents in artificial intelligence for social good. With a Masters and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the Universidade de Lisboa, he has the knowledge and experience needed to make a real difference in the field.
