Patent attorney (2012-2013) assisting innovator groups in identification of patentable inventions and other intellectual property, prosecution of patents, negotiation of collaborative agreements, licenses, and joint ventures, and assessment of freedom-to-operate for a wide range of chemistry, engineering, and biotechnology-related activities.Scientist (2000-2006) and Manager (2006-2012) of a group of physical and analytical chemists with responsibility for development of preclinical and clinical assets in the oncology, antiviral, cardiovascular, and rare diseases therapy areas.  Contributed to numerous regulatory filings including five NCE/NBE NDA/BLA (and ex-US) filings and more than 30 FTIH (IND/IMPD) filings.  Developed and implemented solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance as a widespread analytical technique within GSK and contributed to the development of molecular imaging, organic analysis, and bioanalysis using techniques such as Raman microscopy and mass spectrometry.  Successfully led technology and project teams of up to 20 staff. Closely collaborated with colleagues specializing in synthetic organic chemistry, process engineering, computational chemistry, formulation development (oral, ophthalmologic, and injectable), biopharmaceutical development (peptides, oligonucleotides, proteins, and monoclonal antibodies), medicinal chemistry, consumer health products, and commercial manufacturing.  Provided critical support and guidance for quality and manufacturing issues for marketed products.  Author or co-author of more than 70 journal publications and book  chapters and co-inventor of two international patent applications.
