Jörgen Birkler
Jörgen Birkler, an experienced software developer and expert software architect, has made significant contributions to the mobile phone software and embedded system development industry for over a decade. With a degree in Electrical Engineering from Lund University, he has worked for Ericsson and Sony Ericsson, leading the software architecture and the development of various technologies introduced into mobile phones.
His experience covers computer vision, machine learning, 3D graphics, 3D reconstruction, GPGPU, Vulkan Graphics, Vulkan Compute Software Architecture, user interface software and experience engineering, mobile services, and mobile and cloud computing. Jörgen has driven the launch of several generations of software for feature phones, including the first Cybershot and Walkman phones.
His latest gig is as CTO at InsideMaps, where he uses a simple capture platform to build a virtual version of your home online. The idea is to transform the way we interact with our homes by creating a 3D structure from regular cameras. Before that, he was the Head of Applications & Services Development in Silicon Valley for Sony Ericsson, leading the development of new services for the Xperia range of smartphones and tablets, including the MyXperia service.
