Pablo Rivas is a highly accomplished machine learning scientist, deep learning evangelist, and applied AI ethicist with extensive experience working in academia, industry, and research. He holds degrees in computer science, electrical engineering, and electrical and computer engineering, and has been recognized for his creativity and academic excellence with numerous awards, including the IEEE Student Enterprise Award in 2007 and a Research Excellence Award from the Paul L. Foster Health Sciences School of Medicine of Texas Tech in 2009.

During his tenure as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at both Marist College and Baylor University, Rivas taught courses related to machine learning, data science, big data, and large-scale pattern recognition. Additionally, he has worked on a number of diverse research projects, including the detection of leukocoria using deep learning and image-processing techniques, and the modeling of atmospheric particles using various machine learning methods.

Prior to his academic career, Rivas worked as a software engineer for eight years, where he gained extensive experience in programming languages such as C++, Java, and Python, and occasionally uses MATLAB. He is a professional member of the ACM and IEEE, and has served as an Associate Editor at IEEE Transactions on Technology and Society. In addition to his academic and research work, Rivas is also a member of the CS Honor Society Upsilon Pi Epsilon.
