Synopsis:
- 
Positive Deviance is a framework for solving complex, intractable problems, through first detecting and understanding positive anomalies and then by applying social skills to facilitate the solution at scale.

In any ‘population’, be it a group of ventures, laboratories, people, companies, organizations, projects or investment funds there can exist one or more extreme outliers who, through an unorthodox approach, have already solved the problem.

We will be finding these problems and, where datasets exist, analysing for so-called Positive Deviants using anomaly detection techniques, including high-dimensional Machine Learning. We'll then aim to understand those differences and roll out the discovered solutions across the rest of the ‘population’.

The course will teach how to effect massive, lasting impact in any field that has an intractable problem and a dataset.
