Desing thinking is a framework, a methodology of creating the best possible user exeprience. In that sence UX design is a buliding proces when the design thinking is a hammer which comes with the handbook how to use it efficiently.

In terms of product development design thinking starts way earlier than the actual UX design. It can be implemented on a very conceptual stages of developing an app/service. Design thinking is a hollistic, more broad way of thinking about the product and the creation process itself.

Design thinking methods can be utilised not only by UX designers, but also developers, product owners and even marketers as well.
