Jennifer Tour Chayes is a renowned computer scientist and mathematician, currently serving as the Associate Provost and Dean at the University of California, Berkeley. With a strong academic background in mathematical physics, Chayes has contributed significantly to several fields, including computational biology, algorithmic game theory, graph theory and graph algorithms, network analysis, and machine learning.

Chayes was a former Technical Fellow and Managing Director of Microsoft Research at Microsoft, where she co-founded and managed three interdisciplinary labs in New England, NYC, and Montreal. She is a prolific author and has written over 150 academic papers and holds around 30 patents. Her significant contribution to the development of graphons as a tool for machine learning has been widely recognized.

Her expertise also extends to network analysis and the structural and dynamical properties of networks. Chayes has been recognized for her contributions through reception of numerous awards, including the highest accolade of the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics - the John von Neumann Award, and the ACM Distinguished Service Award.
