Meghan Hopper

Meghan Hopper is an academic and a governance, policy, and advocacy professional with a rich history of leadership roles in various organizations.

Currently serving as the Senior Coordinator, Governance and Advocacy at Moonee Valley City Council, Meghan has a diverse educational background and is in the final stages of completing her part-time PhD studies at Monash University, focusing on mainstream print media representations of women and men during Australian federal elections from 1984 to 2010.

Her research interests extend to media representations of women and men in Australian politics, political representation, critical mass and critical acts, as well as media coverage of Australian feminism and feminist movements. Meghan has also contributed to literature on family violence policy in Victoria/Australia.

With extensive experience as a Board Director and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Meghan Hopper has held notable positions such as Chair of Finance, Audit, and Governance Committee at the Queen Victoria Women's Centre Trust and Mayor of Moreland City Council.

Meghan's past engagements include roles at organizations like safe steps Family Violence Response Centre, Volunteering Victoria, Volunteering Australia, Monash University, CERES Environment Park, and EMILY's List Australia among others. She has also been recognized for her efforts, including being a finalist for the Women's Agenda Award in the category of Emerging Leader - Government in 2016.
