Isabella Ellaheh Hughes is an independent curator, writer, and art and cultural projects consultant. She offers strategic consulting and public programming for artists, art fairs, private foundations and philanthropists globally, with a focus on the Pacific, Asia and Americas.

A frequent contributor to a variety of magazines, journals, exhibition catalogues and books. She's written for Frieze, Harpers Bazaar Art Arabia and Whitehot Magazine, amongst other publications. She is the editor of "Sama Alshaibi: Sand Rushes In" (Aperture Foundation).

She has curated exhibitions for a variety of organizations in the US and UAE. A frequent panelist and moderator on topics related to cultural diplomacy and Pacific and Middle Eastern contemporary art, recent speaking engagements include: Honolulu Biennial, Ayyam Gallery, London, Art Dubai, Art Maui, US Japan Council Conference, Honolulu Museum of Art School, Maui Arts and Culture Center, the International Symposium on Cultural Diplomacy, German Marshall Fund, Washington, DC, Barjeel Art Foundation, Sharjah, the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, Honolulu, Hawaii, Transformer, Washington, DC, Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, Washington, DC, Cafesjian Museum, Yerevan, Armenia, ArtRole Women in Action Conference, Irbil, Iraq, Contemporary Art Platform (CAP), Kuwait, 7th Harvard Arab Alumni Conference, Abu Dhabi, for the US Consulate in Dubai at Traffic Gallery, Beirut Art Fair, Lebanon, Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, Austria, and Maraya Art Center, Sharjah.

Focusing on contemporary art from the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Hughes has been a nominator for the Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship Program, Jameel Prize, Abraaj Capital Art Prize, a juror for the YICCA 2013 International Contest of Contemporary Art, CONTACT presented by Pu'uhonua Society, Art Maui, Art Omi International and the Golden Hibiscus presented by Honolulu Biennial.
