Jim Ballingall is an accomplished IT industry veteran with over 30 years of experience. He began his career as a microelectronics scientist, working on compound semiconductors for infrared sensing and RF communications. He later served as the Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at companies like UMC and Globalfoundries, and as the CEO of Getsilicon. He now serves as the Executive Director of the Industry-Academia Partnership, an association dedicated to pushing forward the next generation of cloud technologies to meet the demands of the 2025 data center and its end customers. Ballingall Consulting is his own consultancy that serves industry and academia. Jim holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Cornell University and a B.S. in Engineering Physics from U.C. Berkeley.
