Mark Whitehurst

Mark Whitehurst is a highly accomplished technology and security leader, who has held multiple senior roles at global corporations. He has a strong academic background in engineering, making him a versatile asset for any technical problem, and has also earned a degree in management from Virginia Commonwealth University - School of Business. Whitehurst started his career at Reynolds Metals Company, where he worked as a Lead Communications Analyst and Communications Analyst before moving onto Alcoa, where he served as a Senior Systems Programmer and Systems Programmer.

In 2001, Whitehurst joined Expedia, Inc., where he progressively rose through the ranks, holding multiple positions in engineering, application engineering, infrastructure engineering, and systems engineering. He was appointed the Director of Systems Engineering in 2009 and played a vital role in shaping the company's technology direction. His expertise in security and systems engineering earned him a promotion to be the Director of Security Operations, where he spearheaded the company's information security strategy. Following that, he was appointed as the Director of Technology, where he oversaw all technology initiatives and was responsible for developing and implementing critical systems and infrastructure at Expedia.

In 2018, Whitehurst was hired by Nordstrom as its Director of Security Engineering, where he has been instrumental in transforming the company's information security platforms. His extensive experience in cloud and application security, endpoint protection, and incident management has enabled him to build an innovative and sophisticated information security program at Nordstrom.
