Mark Hanson, an accomplished entrepreneur, and academician is a Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at Heartbeat Health, where he leads the development of the most effective, efficient, and engaging heart care services. Hanson's expertise is in technology, healthcare, and engineering, and he has authored 18 peer-reviewed publications and seven US patents. He is also an adjunct professor and Co-Director of HealthXDS at GWU, a Venture Partner at NextGen Venture Partners, board member at VLNComm, and advisor at Enabled Intelligence and the Halcyon Incubator. Hanson holds a Ph.D. and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering Concentration from the University of Virginia.

Hanson has spent the majority of his career co-founding and leading startups in the health technology space. As a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of FastRope Labs, he catered to global innovators such as Network for Good, Gensler, and the US State Department. As the Co-Founder and Head of Technology and Product at BeClose, a health tech firm that enabled healthy, independent living with IoT hardware and AI-powered cloud services, Hanson oversaw studies, including a CMS CMMI grant, and gained full reimbursement by public payors throughout North America. BeClose merged with Alarm.com in 2014, where Hanson later served as Director of Product Management, Platforms, and Health Innovations.

As an academician, Hanson designed and applied wearable sensors for better diagnosing and treating movement disorders resulting from essential tremor, Parkinson's, NPH, MS, and MTBI while at UVA. His TEMPO medical technology is utilized in clinical trials at numerous health institutions, including the UVA Health System and Carilion Clinic.
