Amelia Yuan Yao is the founder of the Wellness Division at Shanghai Sino-Stone Investment and Management Co., Ltd, a privately-owned company with more than 12 years of experience in real estate development and management in China. Yao studied at various institutions including St Cuthbert's College, the Shanghai American School, and obtained her Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of Auckland. Yao's latest project is the holistic resort in Dian Shan Hu, which is 45 minutes by car from Shanghai and is 160,000 sqm in size with 80% outdoor green space. The resort is one of the few fully-accredited medical resort sites in China and features amenities including a Medical Centre, Wellness Centre, Short term hotel stays, Long term duplex, and organic farming and livestock.

The aim of Yao's vision is to modernize the concept and practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and make it accessible and relevant to the Upper Middle Class, with the goal of building a 4-star health retreat with a 5-star service that rivals Ayurveda or other natural healing options. Yao is currently seeking experts, advisors, consultants and clinical partners to co-create the brand with the goal of becoming the world's most-renowned TCM-Medi Spa & Resort by reclaiming their traditional heritage and bringing credibility to the craft. Yao’s mission is to build a state-of-the-art evidence-based signature vitality program to offer high-end services to clients. Renovation, rebranding and reopening will occur by October 2017.
