Juanita Montalvo is a seasoned executive in private equity and strategic corporate investments between Canada and Latin America. With a focus on disruptive sectors including AI, Fintech, and communication technology, she currently serves as Managing Director at Privus Capital Inc. and Former Managing Partner at Acasta Cuba Capital. Juanita's wide-ranging experience includes 18 years at Sherritt International, Cuba's largest foreign investor, builder, and operator in mining, oil, gas, and power. Her expertise in corporate governance, partnership management, joint ventures, and international P&L experience has landed her positions like Senior VP of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Sherritt International and Country Manager and Deputy Managing Director for the Ambatovy Nickel & Cobalt JV-Madagascar. Juanita holds a master's in Development Economics, a Bachelor's in International Development Studies, and a Bachelor's in Biology and Biochemistry. Moreover, She has a finance degree from Ivey Business School at Western University. In her free time, she contributes to conservation and responsible resource development initiatives, as well as emerging artistic projects. She serves as a Director and Vice Chair of the Board of Canada's National Ballet School, and Founding Member of the Women for Nature initiative of Nature Canada, and a member of McKinsey's LGBTQ Leadership Master Class Alumni.
