Joshua Lavra
Joshua Lavra is a San Francisco-based professional who intersects design, science, and technology. With a degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University, Lavra advocates for STEM education, mental health, and LGBTQ+ rights. He uses his passion to help others communicate their ideas and has a focus on building digital tools that support the health and happiness of LGBTQ+ adolescents and young adults. Throughout his career, he has served as a Product Lead at Hopelab, Freelance Senior Program Manager at Doberman, IDEO Products Lead and Program Manager at IDEO, Product Manager at Air Liquide, and Engineering and Design Project Manager at Air Liquide. Additionally, Lavra was a Teaching Assistant for Effective Speech for Engineers (CAS100A) at Penn State University, Project Leader for a senior design class at Consul Energy, Standardization Engineer intern at Westinghouse Electric Company, Engineering Ambassador at Penn State University, and Manager/Waiter at Sherwood Oaks. Lavra's explorations include design support for mental health, LGBTQ+ advocacy and support, and methods for building connection and community mid-pandemic.
