Robert Brooks is an accomplished R&D engineer and entrepreneur with a strong focus on medical device development. With over five years of experience in R&D, Mr. Brooks has honed his expertise in minimally invasive surgical tools, wearable sensors, and ultrasound and MR compatibility. He has invented and patented innovative medical devices and has been published in top conferences in his field.
Mr. Brooks is the founder and CEO of Forcen, where he continues to lend his expertise in bringing medical devices from clinical need to commercialization. Prior to Forcen, Mr. Brooks was the co-founder and CTO at MagniWare Ltd, where he designed medical devices. He has also worked as a medical device designer at The Hospital for Sick Children, a control systems designer at Pharmatrust, an electrical/computer engineer at Lutron Electronics, a mobile robotics developer at the University of Waterloo, an electrical engineering co-op student at Algoma Steel Inc., and a safety systems group technician at TRIUMF.
Mr. Brooks obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto, where he achieved a 4.0 GPA. He also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Honours Mechatronics Engineering Co-op from the University of Waterloo, with an overall GPA of 88.6%.
