David Lazar, a renowned Masorti/Conservative rabbi and educator, has spent over three decades enriching the Jewish community across the globe. He has served as a congregational rabbi and educator in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Stockholm, and Palm Springs, promoting cross-generational programming that is both authentic and engaging. Originally from the United States, David has lived in Israel for the majority of his adult life before moving to Sweden in 2010 and returning to the US in 2015.

David Lazar's work aims to link intellectual growth, spiritual practice, and social action as prerequisites for a meaningful Jewish life for individuals and communities. David actively seeks to bridge the gap between non-observant or disconnected Jews and their Jewish tradition. His approach is multi-denominational, encouraging spiritual community building without being limited by movement ideologies. Inclusivity is central to his work, with a focus on incorporating women, those who identify as members of the LGBTQ community, and non-Jews in the spiritual enterprise.

David holds multiple degrees, including a Rabbinical Ordination and Masters in Jewish/Judaic Studies & Theology from the Schechter Institute in Jerusalem, and an MA in Bible & Jewish Studies from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Currently, David is the Founding Director of Or Hamidbar - Light of the Desert. Previously, he served as a Rabbi of Temple Isaiah, the Jewish Community of Stockholm, and founding director of RIKMA: Spiritual Community Leadership Training.
