Cllr Mete Coban MBE
Cllr Mete Coban MBE is a young and accomplished politician with a passion for making politics accessible for the younger generation. As the Chief Executive of My Life My Say, he has contributed to the increase of voter turnout for young people at the 2017 and 2019 UK General Elections. He is the youngest ever elected Councillor in the London borough of Hackney and currently serves as the Cabinet Member for Energy, Waste, Transport, and Public Realm. Mete worked on the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan's election campaign, where he led youth engagement. In the New Year's 2020 honours list, he received an MBE for services to young people.
Mete holds a bachelor's degree in Politics and a master's degree in Public Policy and Practice, both from the University of Greenwich. He received the UK Government's National Democracy Change-Maker of the Year Award in 2018 and was shortlisted for One Young World Politician of the Year 2019.
Throughout his career, Mete has been involved with various organizations, including serving on the board of the Global Fund for Children and being a former Chair of the Leadership Council. He also worked as an Accounts Manager at RBS before pursuing a career in politics.
