Chris Frank

Chris Frank is a seasoned full-stack software engineer and design technologist with expertise in Python, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, and HTML/CSS.

Currently, he holds the position of Staff Engineer at The New York Times, leading the team responsible for developing the photo publishing systems.

Throughout his career, Chris has tackled various challenges including implementing real-time NLP-based image search, creating a robust multi-region image ingestion pipeline, and establishing a React-based design system and component library for company-wide use.

Chris actively contributes to the Architecture Review Board at The New York Times, guiding teams in aligning their architectures with the organization's objectives.

Prior to his current role, Chris accumulated over a decade of experience in the public and private sectors, serving clients like Nike, Tumblr, and the Olympic Games.

At The Future Project, a 501(c)(3) organization, he progressed from a Developer role to the Director of Software Engineering, engaging with thousands of high school students across multiple cities.

An advocate for open source collaboration, Chris values learning from and working with fellow engineers worldwide.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from New York University, complemented by a minor in math, showcasing his diverse academic background.
