Andrew Nemr is a multi-talented tap dance artist, educator, and speaker who has made a name for himself in the international performing arts scene. A mentee of Gregory Hines, he is recognized as one of the most versatile tap dance artists of today, with a unique, organic approach to the craft. Nemr has played with Grammy-winning musicians across multiple genres, founded and directed the tap dance company Cats Paying Dues, and co-founded the Tap Legacy Foundation with Hines. He has been a recipient of several awards, including a FloBert Award for Tap Dance Excellence, and has been granted numerous residencies.
Nemr has a degree in Computer Art/Computer Animation from the School of Visual Arts, which speaks to his multidisciplinary approach to his art. He is currently President and Co-founder of the Tap Legacy Foundation, as well as an independent performing artist and a sought-after public speaker. He uses his craft to speak on issues of identity, community, faith, and love.
