Selected to attend the Hogan Lovells Spring Vacation Scheme 2015, during which I sat in the Litigation, Real Estate and Finance departments. I completed tasks involving research on relevant property laws, filling in a company search report and identifying documents required for a loan agreement transaction. Additionally, I participated in team-based negotiation exercises, a group presentation, an M&A case discussion, a corporate skills workshop and commercial awareness activity.

Selected to attend Allen & Overy's A&O First programme 2015 during which I participated in a team-based negotiation exercise, commercial awareness workshop and a corporate M&A process presentation. Additionally, I was able to work shadow my trainee mentor in the Banking and Finance department, familiarise myself with a commercial law firm environment and network with various trainees and associates.

I sat in the Real Estate department during which time I searched and compiled Dubai Real Estate laws and Strata regulations, and wrote an article on “The Draft Rules for Qualified Foreign Institutions Investment in Listed Shares” published by the CMA of Saudi Arabia. Additionally, I was involved in writing attendance notes, structuring a comparison analysis document, and summarising articles on certain relevant laws. I also completed a contract exercise regarding a Hotel agreement.

Simmons & Simmons

Selected to train as a line judge for the Badminton World Federation's Destination Dubai World Superseries Finals 2014, and acted as a technical official accurately indicating to the umpire whether a shuttle landed in or out. Worked with top seeded international players including the world no.1 Men's doubles pair and Mixed doubles pair. My role involved paying close attention to the shuttle and required high focus as it was easy to be distracted by the match itself. Additionally, the judgments had to be precisely delivered with confidence within seconds of landing.

Participated in various team-based exercises such as negotiations, corporate skills workshop and the A&O Think! Challenge which required analytical and time management skills. I was also involved in a workshop that offered an insight into the typical work undertaken by corporate lawyers, and partook in a finance law exercise which required an analysis and understanding of securing debt through loan agreements.
