Abhi Nemani is a respected writer, speaker, organizer, and technologist with experience in government, civic tech, and innovation. He is the founder of EthosLabs.us, a govtech consultancy he designed to connect govtech startups with forward-thinking cities to create better government services through advanced technology. Abhi previously served as the interim Chief Innovation Officer for the City of Sacramento, where he built out the city's startup sector by investing in startups, grants, and partnerships. Before that, he worked as the Chief Data Officer for the City of Los Angeles to encourage a data-driven approach to city governance. In that role, he hosted hackathons and worked with independent civic tech non-profits to mobilize the developer community, resulting in LA being ranked the number one city for open data in the US. Abhi's work has been featured in various esteemed publications, including the New York Times, Forbes, Government Technology, and Government Executive. He has spoken at SxSW, the World Bank, and many other universities and conferences worldwide. Abhi studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Claremont McKenna College and holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy.
