Weiye Ma is an accomplished expert in speech recognition, natural language processing, and machine learning, with extensive experience designing and deploying highly-usable speech solutions. With his expertise in acoustic and language modeling, he has worked with popular toolkits, including Kaldi and speech products from companies such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft, IBM, as well as Nuance. Weiye is also experienced in speech corpus data management, end-to-end speech recognition system design, and data-driven semantic parser design and development. He is also skilled at digital signal processing, noise cancellation, wearable voice hardware design, and manufacturing. His key segments of expertise include speech recognition and natural language processing in air traffic control, judiciary, healthcare (EHR), big data management, telecommunications, financial systems, traffic information systems, and voice assistant systems.

Weiye holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master's degree in electrical engineering from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, as well as a Bachelor's degree in computer science from Jilin University. He is a lead speech scientist at MITRE, and has previously held positions such as visiting lecturer at Weber State University, CTO at ZOWi, senior speech scientist at Schneider Electric, and senior system analyst at Convergys and Unisys. Weiye is also a former co-founder and co-national chair of The Ubiquitous Voice Society.
