Eric Bursch is a seasoned legislative expert with a background in both journalism and politics. Holding a degree in journalism and history, he spent 13 years as a journalist in writing, editing, and management capacities before transitioning to the world of politics. Serving as a Legislative Assistant in Washington with a focus on military, veterans, and flood response issues, Eric developed several legislative concepts with Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin and guided them from the idea stage to the President’s desk. He has a strong record of successfully juggling and completing a wide variety of tasks on any given day, maintaining excellent relationships with a number of interest groups with competing legislative priorities. Eric also served as a constituent services representative with a focus on veterans and military cases, which gave him important direct contact with constituents and allowed him to see firsthand the challenges ordinary citizens have when working with the federal government on items such as requests to the Department of Veterans Affairs or the four branches of the military. Eric is now the Minority Staff Director at the Office of U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema, building upon his previous experience as Minority Staff Director at the Office of U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp, Legislative Assistant at the Office of U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp, Legislative Director at Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Matz PC, and Constituent Services Representative at Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin.
