Albert Fox Cahn is a lawyer, technologist, writer, and interfaith activist with a passion for civil rights, privacy, and technology matters. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School and his B.A. in Politics and Philosophy from Brandeis University. A frequent commentator, he has been featured in the New York Times, Boston Globe, Guardian, WIRED, NBC Think, Newsweek, and other publications.

Mr. Cahn founded the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.), where he currently serves as Executive Director. Additionally, he is a fellow at Yale Law School’s Information Society Project, Ashoka, and N.Y.U Law School’s Engelberg Center on Innovation Law & Policy, as well as the Day One Project. He also serves on the New York Immigration Coalition’s Immigrant Leaders Council and the New York Immigrant Freedom Fund’s Advisory Council, among others.

Moreover, he has lectured at top universities such as Harvard Law School, New York University School of Law, Columbia University, and Dartmouth College. He previously served as an associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he advised Fortune 50 companies on technology policy, antitrust law, and consumer privacy.

Some of Mr. Cahn's honors and recognitions include TED Fellow, Practitioner In Residence at New York University School of Law's Information Law Institute, Visiting Fellow at Yale Law School, and Social Justice Accelerator Fellow at Urban Justice Center. He is also a former Legal Director and Director of Strategic Litigation at The Council on American-Islamic Relations of New York (CAIR-NY), as well as a former Columnist at Gotham Gazette.
